JACKOBINDI have come along way in the past 5 years !!

We started making and selling Fabric Cover Button finished products in stores and markets, then 4 years ago, due to so many queries we went on to importing and selling Self Cover Buttons direct to the public so they can make their own buttons. We have been the Australian and New Zealand distributors for these wonderful buttons and have many wholesale customers not only making finished products but on-selling our buttons on various craft sites. Wow! things have happened fast!

In 2008 we designed and made all our ORIGINAL Jackobindi DIY Instruction Kits for Hairties, snap clips, bookmarkers, rings, pendants etc etc, the list goes on.....so everyone could learn from our experience and we could provide all the tools and components to do so.....thousands of kits have been sold and still do so every day....... we have had a lot of people buy these kits and then copy the KITS to sell as their own idea! Nice! We still stand up as the original and the best and that's nice to know. More and more keep copying them and saying "look at my new business idea!! Awkward!!....."Even though it very frustrating (for me) to put in so much work designing and sourcing products, I suppose the old saying "IMITATION IS THE FINEST FORM OF FLATTERY" rings true, it is nice that people like our products so much they copy them! The instructions are meant to be copied so you can learn to make buttons products....not copy the Kits and sell as your own idea!!

Thanks to all our LOYAL customers for sticking with us and for all your wonderful feedback. xx We really have some beautiful, inspirational, funny and warm customers who we love hearing from and seeing their wonderful creative ideas with our buttons, very rewarding. xx

Most of you only have communication with me and don't know how many of us it takes to run Jackobindi, I would very much like to thank the following Team Members:

"Button Boy"- where do i start?... the original button counter (don't talk to me while I'm counting!), willing to help me with ANYTHING, telling me I CAN do it when I think I can't and spurring me on to achieve bigger and better.....sometimes warehouse manager and grrrr...always leaving his bike in the way! Pricing expert, Part-time photographer...Wouldn't have even got started without my "Butt Boy" ooops..."Button Boy"! Has a new job these days, not around so much but not forgotten!

Pat the fabric circle cutter extraordinaire, fabric shopping companion/advisor, expert weigher and the best PR manager! My longest Jackobindi employee and still around!

Peter the snap clip and brooch man, Mr Fixit, general handyman and courier, has the most organized and clean work area known to man kind!

Kerrie D my right hand girl (confusing with same name I know!) Expertly packs orders day in, day out, makes up buttons and kits, cleans up the work area! Best of all she tells me I'm a great coffee maker when I'm not! The high heels have now made way for the sneakers (ugg boots next week?!)

Amanda the newest addition, lucky bobby pin counter & bagger, beautiful pendant maker and my very patient market girl!

Sarah for collecting my "non -filed" paperwork and somehow sorting it by BAS time! Thankyou for filling out all those forms I hate filling out and saving me from dealing with the tax department!

Jackobindi have new options on their website now, for all those who FORGET to write in the comments section and ask for flat backs it is great news!!

You no longer need to write anything in the comments section. We now have a button below the button size choice where you choose if you want shanks OR flat backs. (see sample below)

Simply pick shanks or flat backs after you pick the size button you require and then add to cart. No need to leave any comments as each pack you purchase will have to have the type of backs required picked before adding to cart.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011!

Well it hasnt been a great start to the New Year with the flood crisis in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. Like everyone in Australia, our hearts go out to those who have been affected. Fingers crossed, none of our customers have been affected xx

Whilst holidaying in Noosa I personally saw enough rain to last a lifetime! As a family we decided to cut the holiday short due to the torrential rain and although it wasn't the sunny beach holiday we were hoping for at least we got out unscathed (the power outage and tropical python escaping the water onto our balcony did it for me!)

Just a few points.....

**Due to hard work we are now back on track after the holidays and all orders will be sent out within 2 business days after receiving payment.

**Giant paperclips/Bookmarkers are now back in stock but stocks are limited so first in best dressed.

**We have full stocks of the Vintage Rim Buttons now.

A must for any jewellry or button making. A long time favorite and extremely hard to find. E6000 adheres to more surfaces, waterproof, flexible and is stronger than super glue. Perfect to secure buttons,cabochons, to adhere rhinestones to decorative items, wood, metal, glass, fibreglass, ceramics etc. Use in a well ventilated area.This cement does not dry instantly, before the glue sets you have 5 minutes to make adjusments. For maximum strength bond, allow 24-72 hours for complete curing.This is the smallest tube you can buy 5.32ml (.18fl oz) Suitable for small projects. FABRIC CIRCLE DIE CUTTING MACHINE

I get asked all the time how we cut so many fabric circles for our buttons. People think that is the most tedious and time-consuming part of button making.

Well, the answer is, for any button that needs print placement in the middle of the button, the fabric needs to be hand cut after tracing around our fabric templates using the inner circle to line up the print...there is no easier way.......and the fabulous Patricia does an awesome job hand cutting each fabric circles we sell!!

The good news however, is when we cut spots, stripes, floral patterns or any fabric that does not need specific prints in the middle of the button, we use a die cutting machine that cuts 6 layers of fabric at a time!! Yes!! Very handy and quick to use.

The die has 4 different size circles on it so cuts all from once piece and because it can cut layers of fabric that means 24 circles in one hit!! The size of the circles correspond with our buttons perfectly..25, 37, 50 and 62mm diameter.

If you would like to purchase one of these machines with the die, they retail for $210.00 together (plus postage)

We have many wholesale customers who either make button accessories for retail outlets, markets or shops OR we have wholesale customers who are re-sellers in Craft stores, Etsy or Ebay. Anyone interested in re-selling our buttons and accessories please email myself kerrie@jackobindi.com.au.

We also get many requests for discounts (a phone call asking for a discount if someone bought 2 packets of 25 buttons prompted this blog!!) Please note, if you are buying in the quantities in our online shop, these are heavily reduced prices in bulk packs, excellent value, however if you wish to buy Wholesale the minimum pack size is 500 buttons (500 in EACH size not 500 in total) These packs are always available on the website. If you require larger quantities than 500 THEN please email kerrie@jackobindi.com.au with your quantities required and I will get back to you. Please do not ask for wholesale prices or discounts if you are only ordering a few hundred buttons as I hate to say NO! There are often sales so wait until then!!

We have just started stocking the small sizes in the Birch plastic back Cover Button range. We now have 12mm, 14mm, 19mm and 23mm. All come in packs of 100. We also have assembly tools. Please note the blue/white tools we use for the metal back buttons do not work well with the plastic back buttons as they are thicker. You need to buy the red/yellow tools for each size button.

If you would like to try before buying in bulk, we have sample packs in each size.

Please note the 23mm buttons are on backorder from Birch and should be arriving soon! All other sizes we have in stock.
