THE MANUFACTURER HAD DISCONTINUED THESE BUT THEY ARE BACK DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND.

MAKE A FABRIC BUTTON CHRISTMAS WREATH!!

It's only 26 days to Christmas!! How about making a gorgeous Fabric Button Christmas Wreath!!?

This divine wreath was so easy to make.

Firstly order some buttons from Jackobindi

I used about 80 buttons (40 x 38mm, 20 x 28mm and 20 x 23mm) You can use any size but this worked well on the wreath. When ordering request Flat Backs so you dont have to pull the shanks out yourself. It is probaly more economical to order a 50 pack of 38mm and 25 packs of the 28mm and 23mm and have a few left over for other uses (or bunch up the buttons more and use the lot!)

Collect some lovely co-ordinating fabrics or use scraps. I chose a selection from Moda plus some vintage florals. You may choose to use tradional Christmas fabrics.

 The polystyrene wreath bases are available from Spotlight or any good craft store for around$10.00.

Firstly wrap your base with some fabric strips to cover the polystyrene (I used about 60mm wide strips). Then choose your fabrics and make the buttons (I used FLAT BACKS but you can always pull the shanks out if you buy shank backs). I then used a hot glue gun to adhere the buttons to the wreath, you need to hold them in place for about 10 seconds with heaps of glue on the edges. Keep layering the buttons in random order, using mainly the 38mm on the bottom.

Once all the buttons were in place, I then hot-glued some silver tinsel around the outside.

Quick and Easy!

This is a great activity to do with the kids...they will love it!

14mm or 15mm buttons!!!!!!!!!

Just a little note for anyone needing PRECISE sizes of a button..............we are going to change the name of the 14mm self cover button to 15mm!

 Just so there is no confusion, they are called 5/8 inch by the Americans and where the top part of the button bulges it actually measures closer to 15mm so that's the new name!

STUNNING BLACK CHOKERS....LOOK DIVINE WITH BUTTON PENDANTS

These fantastic chokers are a black plastic coated wire that hold it's shape hanging on your neck. They do up with a magnetic clasp so simple to use. They look gorgeous with a button pendant (any any pendant for that matter). These groovy chokers can be purchased single or in bulk packs for reselling. Go here to find them!

SMALL PRICE RISE AS OF SEPTEMBER 3RD....

We have been warning about a price rise on the home page of Jackobindi for a couple of weeks but sadly it has happened today.....

Due to the Australian government and custom's ridiculous taxes and GST charges (yes WE have to pay both!) Unfortunately we have had to put the prices of buttons up slightly, we have absorbed most of the costs but some we have had to pass on....sorry.... :(

 The good news is we are still very cheap!! (have you checked out those prices in Lindcraft!!LOL..packs of 6 23mm buttons are $8.00!!) AND they are soooo hard to use! And has anyone seen the cover buttons where you have to SEW the fabric on!! Why would you bother???Everyone always thanks us for making such easy to use buttons!!...you're welcome!!

These clear acrylic templates come to match all self cover button sizes available at Jackobindi, 19mm, 23mm, 28mm, 38mm and 45mm. As you can see in the photos, you trace around the outside of the template to get the correct size need to make the self cover button, but the best part is you can line up the template so the middle cut out shows exactly the size of the actual button you will be making!! No more wasted fabric and no more dodgy buttons!! These are not only perfect for beginners but even the expert button makers want these to make their life easier!

We have a new product available in store now.

This cute little kit makes 6 pairs of gorgeous little fabric covered button stud earrings. The buttons are only 12mm diameter or 14mm diameter, your choice. The kits comes like all Jackobindi kits do, with full step-by-step instructions, buttons, tools, pre cut fabric and earring posts and backs. all you need is a hot glue gun OR a metal glue.

These are so easy to make and lots of fun too. A fashion accessory must!! A great gift also!!

FABRIC TEMPLATE GUIDE FOR SELF COVER BUTTONS

We are always getting asked "what size fabric circles do I cut to fit my button?"

You don't have to cut circles but it certainly makes it easier and neater to do so. Following is a guide as to what size you should precut your fabric for each size button. 

19mm Button - 40mm diameter circle

23mm Button - 45mm diameter circle

28mm Button - 55mm diameter circle

38mm Button - 65mm diameter circle

45mm Button - 75mm diameter circle

These measurements are a guide only, it also depends on thickness of fabric, play around yourself and see what works for you. 

Remember pattern placement is very important, when cutting your fabric, make sure the print you want in the middle of the button is in the middle of the fabric circle!

If you want to buy your fabric circles already precut, they are available in the store

Always consider thickness of fabrics when making buttons, lightweight cottons are perfect for all size buttons, linens are best with size 28mm buttons and larger, cord, velvet, upholstery fabrics and chenille will only fit in 38mm or 45mm buttons.

Remember if you are using a silk, lycra or any other stretchy fabric you may need to use a thin cotton lining behind the silk to stop slipping.

Well its been a long time coming but here at Jackobindi we have finally jumped on board on got ourselves a BLOG. For those new to "Jackobindi" we are a online shop selling self cover buttons and all the accesories needed for your crafting projects. Along side a wide variety of self button sizes we also stock hair elastics, snap clips, brooch backings, pendant bails, magnets and just instore now some extra cool paperclips that make fabulous bookmarks (now thats one for the boys!!) But don't stress, if you're not the crafty type but love what we do, we also cater for your needs and sell some gorgeous fabric button accessories and stationery for your purchase. 

We don't profess to be the most tech savvy people in the world but we do hope to bring you some fun and inspiring tutorials (as soon as we work how to!!) along with some of our new finds and some of the products currently available in our store.
